Chase Mangum

WHIM. Based in the vibrant city of Los Angeles. Whim has gained attention for their unique style, a cross between the sounds of early 2000s alternative rock and modern psychedelia. The band consists of five members, two of which brothers, who all share a common interest in the Los Angeles local music scene. Their current live set, written and arranged by members, Chase Mangum and Erik Brauer. The band is led by front man Chase Mangum, tackling both lead vocals and bass guitar, like his two idols Getty Lee (Rush) and Sting (The Police). He plays beside his counterpart Erik Brauer, the guitarist who is in charge of holding down the chords while also adding his own unique harmonic flair through his knowledge of jazz. Austin Mangum is the lead guitar player who enchants the set with his psychedelic guitar lines and ambient reverb, fulfilling the sets purpose. On the drums is Tommy Goldstein, an alumni from the USC music program who holds down the beat. To his right is Max Marcy the multi-instrumentalist. He adds production and harmony using his omni chord and Korg synthesizer.  Whim has recently released music that they recorded with Grammy Award winning Dweezil Zappa.
